Based in London, Alvorada are the UK’s leading performers of choro, a rich and uplifting style of instrumental music from Rio de Janeiro. Alvorada explore influences from all over Brazil, playing choros with the irresistible swing of samba and maxixe from the South to baião from the Northeast, all with an immediacy and vibrancy that delights audiences everywhere.

Alvorada’s debut album First Light contains choro classics and original works, revisiting the genre with influences from the UK. Their second release Faz Tempo is a rich tapestry of compositions, documenting their ever evolving sound and their growth as as ensemble.

Recently Alvorada have played at venues including the Southbank Centre, the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room, SOAS Brunei Gallery and Maison du Brésil (Paris). They have also recorded for La Linea Festival.

Alvorada unites top musicians from London and Brazil, whose diverse backgrounds - including jazz, classical and Brazilian music - lend the group a unique and innovative sound. Alvorada won the Latin UK (LUKAS) award for “Best Act”, and “Best Band’ in the Focus Brasil awards.

The band performs extensively in London and across the UK, and are available for private events and functions.
